Barba Hickman

Applied Clarity founder Barba A. Hickman is a fact-based, growth-strategy and marketing relationship expert with over 15 years experience building effective programs to identify and eliminate barriers to profitable revenue growth. As a skilled leader, negotiator, interviewer, and facilitator, Barba begins each project with a customized audit to uncover hidden issues and untapped assets. She delivers conclusions and recommendations drawn from that audit to allow leaders to quickly make forward progress. She utilizes a proven three-step program to evaluate and improve the revenue impact of current initiatives and to identify profitable new paths for growth.

Barba has worked with more than 30 CEOs and business owners. She has served as a board director, senior executive or corporate consultant for a wide range of companies, including: Intermec, Micron, Nortel, SkyeTek, SpectraLink, and StorageTek (acquired by Sun). She also uses her negotiation and liaison skills to drive global market acceptance for new technologies. She is the former chairperson for committees that developed the air-interface standards for radio frequency identification (RFID) for the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the International Standards Organization (ISO). In 2000, she was honored by the National Committee for Information Technology Standards (NCITS) for her contributions to the worldwide advancement of automatic identification and data capture (AIDC) through the use of radio frequency identification (RFID). Her work in standards development continues today via her appointment as a U.S. delegate to ISO and as an industry chairperson to EPCglobal committees (http://www.epcglobalinc.org).

In addition to her professional responsibilities, Barba has also served on the Board of Directors for the Foundation for Boulder Valley Schools, as President of the StorageTek Foundation, and as a regional or corporate lead for several charitable organizations including Make-a-Wish Foundation, Habitat for Humanity and United Way.

Barba holds degrees in business and education from the University of Central Missouri where she graduated Summa Cum Laude and received the Outstanding Graduate Award from the College of Business & Economics.
